Educational institutions process data of students, some of whom are minors. GDPR and FERPA-equivalent protections require strict data minimisation. Qrius stores no personal data from QR scans, making it safe for student-facing materials.

Qrius never stores raw IP addresses, sets no cookies on scan, and keeps all data on EU servers in Stockholm, Sweden. Full GDPR Article 28 DPA available on paid plans.

Can universities use QR codes on student materials without GDPR issues?

Yes, with Qrius. Since we store no raw IP addresses and set no cookies, QR scans create no personal data record. This means no consent requirement, no data subject rights implications, and no DPO review needed for the QR layer itself.

Is Qrius suitable for use with students under 18?

Qrius does not collect personal data from people who scan QR codes. There is no age verification requirement because no personal data is processed. For the account itself (creating and managing QR codes), our terms require users to be 16 or older in the EU.

Can I update course material links each semester without reprinting?

Yes. Dynamic QR codes can be updated at any time. Print once, update each semester. This is especially useful for lecture slides, course handouts, and campus signage.

Your visitors' IP addresses are never stored. On each scan we run a geo-lookup, then immediately hash the IP with HMAC-SHA256 and a daily rotating salt. The original address is discarded. No cookies. No fingerprinting. All data stays on EU servers in Stockholm, Sweden.
